THE GIFT THAT WAITS

A Grief Poem for an unborn child

By Mary Kay Glunt
All materials protected by copyright laws.

A tiny hand, so very small;
A footprint like a baby doll;
Small ears, small eyes, and mouth below,
Petite but perfect even though.

He wasn't what you thought you'd see,
A baby, yes, but small and weak.
Still you loved and cherished him,
And prayed through nights both bright and dim.

It wasn't long enough to see
Him walk and talk and ride your knee.
But even though his time was short,
You knew his love, and he knew yours.

So now you walk, but not alone,
For Christ is with you as you go.
Look up because the gift's not gone
He's waiting in the Father's arms.
